Tank Transfer for Freshwater fish

I bought a couple of goldfish and I am currently quarantining them. I'm looking to rid them of all parasites so I'm going to do formalin and prazi for worms. However, I read that the tank transfer method doesn't work for freshwater fish. Is there something else that I can do to rid them of ich?

I have never heard that the TTM would not work with freshwater Ich? The Ich life cycle is very similar to that of marine Ich. To answer your question though, I have used non-iodized sea salt successfully in treating freshwater Ich....can also be used as a preventative in a QT. Raise the tank temp slightly (this speeds up the life cycle of the parasite) and use 1tsp of salt per gallon of freshwater. Repeat every 12 hours for three days to ensure a .3% solution. Between each treatment do a 90% water change to remove any parasites that fall to the bottom. You can also use any regular freshwater Ich medication.....although it is harder on the fish than other methods. I haven't done this in a long time so I had to look up the formula but it does work very well.

Goldfish are hardy but dont do well with some parasite treatments ime.
Cant use heat with them.
And are rather copper sensitive.
They are also very bio load heavy and not sure i would try TTM because of ammonia concerns.

They do handle salt ok like the @Waters brought up. I have used salt with Ichthyophthirius and as a bath for Lernaea cyprinacea wound care.

I have also had success with methylene blue baths with fw ich. The theory on why this works is the staining affects the metabolism of Ichthyophthirius.

Every post made by Humblefish on the TTM says it applies to marine ich only, so I assume that it's not for freshwater.

That the life cycle of the tomont is less than one day, and if that's true, then TTM won't work unless you transfer every 12 hours. WhoGonnaDoDat?
