Tank Two: The Electric Boogaloo

Long time no see Reefers,

I started my first tank, a fluval 13.5 gallon, in late Spring/early Summer of last year. It's had it's ups and downs and over the last half year I'd grown pretty discouraged with it. Hair algae was winning the battle and I'd lost all my fish over time and coral growth had stagnated or regressed. Managing a small tank alongside life was becoming a chore that I didn't enjoy so the answer was obvious.
Just get a bigger tank!

A reefer I knew was getting out of the hobby for a bit and I was able to get a 90 gallon setup for a good price. That was three months ago and the tank has now been running for about a month. Like I did before, I'll share my updates and plans here in case anyone else runs into what I will. The larger tank has already eased most of the gripes I had with my small tank and it's pulled me back into the hobby in a good way. Looking forward to showing it's growth.

Tank was running up to the day I got it so there was plenty of cleaning to be done. I ended up leaving a little of the old coral behind since I didn't want to risk damaging the silicon. Had a few leaky bulkheads from the move but after some leak tests I was able to add sand and a scape I built over two years ago and had been holding on to.

Fast forwarding a bit, I broke down the old tank and transferred the rock and livestock over to the new. Was able to pick up some more rocks and coral at a good price from a friend and now it's actually looking like a reef tank. I'm going heavy on zoanthids and euphyllia with a few oddball corals. No plans for SPS at the moment but may try a free acro frag at some point just to see.

Since I didn't list before, here's my current planned stocking list by order of addition.

1. Second clownfish, Yasha Goby
2. Cleaner Goby, Hector's Goby, Tailspot Blenny
3. Christmas Wrasse
4. Carpenter Flasher Wrasse trio
5. Squaretail Bristletooth Tang

Some items may swap depending on availability with the exception of the tang. It will always be last.
