Hi All,

I have a 120 gallon tank that has been completely taken over by turf algae. I have tried to rip it off, but I am honestly sick of having to do it every couple weeks. (see pick) It has gotten to the point where I need to just pull everything out and start over again with new rock. Which would recycle the system. So I am at the point of just doing a full tank makeover with taking everything out and doing a vinegar bath to the system to kill everything inside the tank. I would throw all my rock and sand away and start new with everything.

Does anyone have any other suggestions of a better course of action for the issue?

Thank you!
David

have you tried lawnmower blenny or yellow tang, those will keep rocks clean.
What CUC do you have?
Also, what r ur water parameters including light type/schedule

just an idea before you restart...
make an ATS and give that algae some place to grow other than your rocks. tons of success stories. east to make and clean to. also could set up a remote fuge in a 10-20 gallon tank or bin to help to.
good luck!

I have tried both and neither of them have helped. I have a bunch of crabs and snails. I have a guy that cleans my tank every couple months and he said that parameters are good, just that it continues to grow once it enters a tank.

Great Ideas Devaji! I have always wanted a remote fuge.
