I'd just like to throw out a question for those that have had multiple tanks. Have you ever had two of the same set ups, and have drastically different outcomes? Consider yourself an advanced hobbyist and one tank is thriving while the other looks the same day after day? If so, did the sad tank ever catch up or did you give up and go in a different direction?

20g and a Pico tank here! The pico was an invert-only low-maintenance tank, while the 20g was a reef tank. We never had any issues with the pico tank. However, the 20g always had some sort of algae issue (GHA and dinos). Funny because it was less stress and hassle keeping the pico than it was the 20g

Wow! Interesting. PICO's are notorious for being more difficult. It's like it is trying to prove a point. 😂

There is at least one story floating around here that has two tanks connected to each other, all using the same water, and one has issues and the other is perfect.
That adds another layer, being completely connected. I'd love to read about that one if you recall who/where it was.
