I think I'm going to try the inkbird and see how that one does. I like the quick plug and play.

I didn't see it asked. How are you measuring temp? It feels hard to believe that the fan brought it down 12 degrees. Are you running the biocube topless?

I'm using just a digital thermometer that you get from the LFS that has the suction cup so it's probably not that accurate. My tank is topless. When I first installed the fan I put it directly above the tank about 6" from the top so I think it was just too close. I moved it yesterday and installed the heater again it seems to be better

Finnex also make a good budget controller, just be careful if you use Aqueon Pro heaters, there is one Finnex model that not compatible with them. If I remember it's the MAX 300 model

For about $30 you can do a diy temp controller that controls your heater and fans. I've built them for my 4 current tanks and am building another one for my 5th. You can search stc-1000 build instructions or wiring diagram to see how easy it is; start with these on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/111921358255?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT and

and get a couple of outlets from home depot or whenever, I'm sure you have a plug somewhere you can cannibalize and some wire.
You set the desired temp and the range you what, the controller turns your fans or heaters on and keep your temp within that range. I run dual heaters and a fan or dual fans on all my tanks.

Must have a bug, what would you like to ask.
On another post about a bio pellet reactor you said you got a BRS doser and a timer from amazon i just wanted to know what the timer was for?

Was it to turn on and off the doser?
I thought dosers had there own pumps and everything?

They are stand alone dosers, http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-2-part-doser-1-1-ml-per-minute.html, I like these for 2 reasons. One if you do enough research you will find that the controllable ones, no matter how fancy or expensive, fail and fail on and dose the heck out of your tank sometimes killing everything. I feel safer with the doser being controlled by a timer that very rarely fails, and if it does usually just doesn't turn on. Two if you just need one doser. BRS always has sales and these usually go for low $70 add a digital timer that you can program minutes, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004JKBIEY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (went up since the last one I bought), and it cost you about $85 a line total. Even if you need 2 or 3 they are still economically priced and they are a highly rated doser.

I just drill a hole in the cap of the nopox so the tube fits tight, just remember to cut the tube at a 45 at the bottom

I ordered a 300 watt finnex HMO, I hope not to regret this decision.

I've seen so many bad reviews.
