Starting a new build!

I have been playing around with the idea of a new custom peninsula tank to make a "room" in my small apartment. Was looking into doing a larger tank for my corals. I then realized that Tess, my beloved Jeweled Moray, is getting a little large for her tank. Thus the idea is born....

Not sure how keeping an eel with the corals will work out but I am into easy keeping corals so no big issue if something goes knocked over, ect. Aquarium is (still not ordered) going to be 48x35x18" tall. The 35" width is so it can skate in through a window :)

Tank is going to need at least another 2 months for completion as I still have to place the order. I did however start the stand build. Most of the equipment I already have. Skimmer is going to be pretty undersized. Hoping I can get away with it but upgrade possible, 130 gallon DT, 75 gallon sump.

Equipment:
Jebao Returns
Jebao Powerheads
Tunze Powerhead

Penatir 40 watt UV

36" ATI Sunpower
2x 48" Reef Brite Lumilite pro

RO 150INT Skimmer

I have lids that I will seal down. The tank is made by Custom Aquariums in Neenah WI, local to me :) I am slightly nervous about using their overflow box as its pretty unique, going to give it a shot though. Anyone use these?

I will update as this goes along :)

Oh and Tess is the eels name and friends will be coral and 20 or so damsels.

Weekend update! (I am actually trying to document this build fully)

First I have the tank ordered now! I went bigger with 21x48x35 (HxLxW) so the tank is now 150 gallons.

I got the sump created with the model I use on my current 180, three section, skimmer, free space and return. I use the free space for fuge, reactors ect.

The 29 gallon is used for the ATO resevoir.

I am trying out Foamular as a foam base to level out the top with 1.5" of plywood on top. One piece of plywood extends to wall that will create the space behind stand for equipment.

Also started the plumbing, not exactly sure if I am going to be using 1 or two return pumps yet. Plumbed the UV.

For lighting I am using t5 sunpower along with lumilites, 2 50/50 and 2 white, the 50/50 and white together is the perfect look imo as I do not like the over blue. I run the pair on each side of the t5s. I was struggling with hanging them. I found this metal latch that is the perfect length and hole distance that aligns with the lumilite end cap screws so I fastened them to the bracket and will hang them with the remaining two holes using a hanging kit I found online. I also have the ramping controller that will ramp the lumilites with T5s doing all the lighting work. The lumilites add a little PAR but I want them mostly for ramping which for me is important as I love watching my tank at dusk with lights turning down :) Also I think fish appreciate it, corals don't care.

And lastly a splinter that didnt feel good.

Never updated this :( I guess I can now!

Picked up the tank from Custom Aquariums in Neenah Wisconsin. I had my doubts about their Stealth Overflow box. I read people had troubles getting them quite. I had no issues with a class Herbie Style. They also require a matt under the entire aquarium even though the tank is rimmed. The rim is barely sticking out from the glass on the bottom so the mat touches the bottom glass all around along with the trim.

Im laughing at my original equipment list! I now have 6 lumilites and the T5s. T5s are not set up until the corals move over and I can check PAR. Not sure how strong the lumi lites are! I chose the lumilites because I have the large Bluetooth controller and prefer a white look so I can run the white lumilite.

Used all live rock from existing tanks so there was no cycle, transferred everything over right away. Corals are still waiting because I ran out of time :)

Update after a long time and long move!

Moved to a new house, moved the tank. After having a few setups I knew I wanted to sump not under the tank, so it has its own space :) electric board is a little messy yet.
corals growing well!

Pocilipora are my new jam, growing out several colonies hoping to get the tank full at some point!

Switched to mostly led with 2 T5 bulbs.
