So after three years building giant reef tanks I've decided to build the smallest reasonable tank possible to sit on my desk at work.

So far my plans are a 6.5"x7"8" high custom all in one tank built from 1/4" strarphire making the display 6x6(there will be a 1/2" insert rear wall)x6.5 Water volume, or 1.01 gallons. Or I might go with a corner tank 7"x7"x8" with two back inserts to make it 6"x6" footprint Filtration will probably be a micro turf scrubber, some kind of carbon, and weekly or biweekly 50-100% water changes. Lighting will be hopefully a 9 or 13 w compact fluorescent and led combo. Flow might be DIY or a small pump. Rock work will be either branch rock or glued together lettuce coral base pieces.

For live stock I'm going to go pico as well. Favias, zoanthids, micro zoas, maybe echinata and micromusa, maybe an acro up top down the line. Hopefully I'll also get a pistol shrimp or goby as well but I don't see sand working in this small a tank with decent flow.

I need to finish the cabinet for my 50g peninsula at home, renovate my bathroom, build two new custom tanks finish two that need plumbing and filtration once the cabinet makers are done with trim work, and some other projects as well so this might take a while.... But it will be cool when finished!

Pics to follow..

Very cool plans, I love the idea of a tiny tank at work. Look forward to following the progress of this build.
