Hey there fellow reefers! The other day we were cleaning up the farm and I noticed just how many extra pieces of equipment we had. We had been talking about setting up a small display in our office for a while, and here was all the equipment needed to do it. I've never taken the time to document any of my aquarium builds and figured this was a perfect opportunity to do just that. So on Wednesday, December 16, I started the build.

Current Equipment:
IM 40 AIO
IM40 Stand
Ecotech Radion XR30 G4 Pro
Vortech MP10
Maxijet 1200 return
IM Chaetomax Fuge Light
Tunze ATO
40lbs Live Sand
Custom Rockscape by Pristine Rock

Equipment to be added:
Apex
Apex ATK module
3 Channel Doser

Some of the equipment laid out.

Custom aquascape by Pristine Rock (before anyone asks, yes a magnet fits all the way around the tank)

So far the only piece of equipment purchased was the small fuge light

There's no stock list at this time other than our mated pair of Wyoming White clowns from our home display. Unfortunately our 17 year old home display tank has to come down in the next 2 weeks for some home construction. Besides our clownfish, I'll be choosing some of our older pieces to add here.

We welcome any and all questions, comments, and concerns. Thanks so much for reading and I look forward to updating this thread as the system matures.

- Mike

Just a quick update.

So this is the week were my home display has to come down and our fish will need rehoming. Time to really kick this bacteria into gear.

First order of business was filling one of the rear chambers with live rock from my home sump. These have been living in the sump for the better part of 10 years at least. Grabbed enough to fill what would be an accessory chamber on the right side of the 40 gallon.

Second was to really jump start the live sand. At home I've been running an 8" DSB for the entire life of the aquarium. Grabbed a nice healthy cup of sand out of the corner and dropped it in.

Finally, I did a quick 5 gallon water change with aged water from the 90 gallon.

I will end up doing at least 2 more 5 gallon WC's with aged water this week. Most likely by Friday or Saturday, our clownfish will be living in their new home. Damsel and 6 line will end up in our QT 120 gallon here at the farm. My Comet Grouper will find a new home in our grow out tank along with the Tomini Tang. Lastly our mandarin will live among the zoanthid grow out plates since that tank is infested with more pods than he could ever keep up with. Thanks for reading and Happy Reefing!

It's been a long 6 months lol! The has tank sat as it was in the pics above with two clown since the end of December. Once show season started there was no time for display work and I haven't had time to look up. At Aquashella last week I promised myself I'd get a move on this system. Made a control board this week, added the Apex, ATK, and turned on the fuge with some algae. Coral soon!

Great job on the control board! We have pretty similar builds, I'll be following along.

What type of coral do you plan on adding?

I have pet corals around the farm that need a display. Besides those I don't have a real stock list yet. Just whatever I come across that I can't live without.
