The Reef Expo Toronto?

I wanted to get feedback on this "expo".. It is advertised in my local groups on FB and so on.

Anyone know anything about it?

There doesn't seem to be a lot of buzz about it, but it does seem like they are bringing in a few relatively big people. For whatever reason reef shows don't do well in Canada. I still find it hard to believe the first macna was in Toronto... Thing is there are enough interesting reef shops in the area that a big frag swap isn't as important IMO as having good speakers, new products showcased ect.

I have yet to see any vendors even post about it... It is promoted on Face Book hard... They are accepting payments and the show is 120 days away with no mention on here or any large forum I can find. This just seems odd.... The last show in Canada i went to had 400-500 ppl show up (to my knowledge this is the largest show that has happened in a long time) and the vendors were all local sellers and shops.

This was the Niagara Coral Show and it is planed a year in advanced... I know this as I just got off the phone with the people who run it for 2019..

It would be nice to have a huge show but RAP NY is only 7-8 hrs away for most ppl in TO and has the whole thing filled almost.

Our biggest frag swap is done mainly thru facebook advertising. Someone got fed up with the local club swaps and started putting one on. No speakers just vendors and it draws a good crowd. Even though we have a huge reefing community they don't seem to support the big shows. We used to have a large 1 day show with big name speakers and a ton of vendors. After they had MACNA here it was like everyone was tired of the big show. Attendance got so low they were losing a lot of money after they paid for the speakers and the venue.

At the first MACNA there where only few members from the Toronto and Cleveland club. I started going to MACNA's at #3 When we had 300 people in NJ. The only show that I go out of the way to going is MACNA as it draws friends that I have know in the hobby for 30 years. An is a serious reefer show. While some new hobbyist come each year. MACNA draws the crowd of people that really get into the the corals and equipment really heavy and not just the Fad bunch that one would see at Reefapalooza or big local area swap's
