Ok. So the tank is running and everything seems to be going good. I’m going to figure out which dosing routine is best for alkalinity as it does have a daily draw of .3 dkh already. All for Reef is being used right now, but is so far ineffective at 20 ml a day and has just been increased to 25 ml. If it becomes too inefficient, then sodium carbonate or Reef Fusion will be used.

Here’s a video explaining how I’m keeping the tank stable at almost one month in. Acropora and other sps have been in the tank for a week now, and they continue to thrive. This seems definitely doable given the specific circumstances of this tank and my experience.

One month in now, and starting to get coralline on the glass. Note that this was started with coralline covered Tonga liverock and fiji dry rock. Getting some flak from gatekeepers on youtube for this tank, lol! Everything is still doing awesome and growing, and I will be adding more coral and fish soon! This just goes to show what’s possible given enough resources and experience. I know a little about reef tanks, and don’t recommend this outside of advanced level reefing. But it sure is fun to push the boundaries and succeed at it!

Just noticed fresh coralline all over the Hygger wavemakers too. These were cleaned in citric acid before adding to this tank. Might be time to put the full cuc of urchins back in to keep the coralline down, I had 5-6 in the old tank. Kinda boring, I know, but I see people all the time wondering how to get coralline to grow. I suggest adding some live rock with it already on there. Urchins eating and spreading it around helps too, it’s a vicious cycle, lol!

These came out great. I tested them in the new tank loaded up with plugs, so they are good up to 3/4” thick glass. They also have abs coated magnets to prevent leaching. Will add to the Reefer Matt website (reefermatt.net) tomorrow.

Got the website (reefermatt.net) updated today. I haven’t sold anything yet, but it’s there, lol. I tried the marketplace here, but a couple vendors constantly flood it, so I won’t post on R2R unless that gets changed. I have to post as a non sponsored vendor, so there’s no filter that will help.

As for the tank, I pulled a 2” scratch on the inside of the glass, so it’s not “new” anymore! I’m developing a softer scraper card to help lessen the chance of sand getting pulled through the glass again. So far nitrate is staying at 16 ppm consistently, and phosphate goes up .01 ppm a day. Alk, ca, and mg are stable with AFR now.
