Which tests do employ and at which frequency? Keeping costs and avoiding unnecessary kits seems important

alk?
Cal?
Nitrate?
Phophate?
Salinity?

Dont be scared to share photos and links to your build log.

I test for all of those when my reefs are up and running. Also agree with the mag test. I did mine about every 3 days and once they were stable I switched to once a week for most unless something looked wrong or after I add more coral.

alk? ...... Tested daily while determining dosage ..... now I test weekly.
Cal? ...... Same as alk .... tested daily to every other day while determing usage/dosage ..... now weekly
Nitrate? ...... bi-weekly
Phophate? ....... bi-weekly
Salinity? ...... weekly with water change

Dont be scared to share photos and links to your build log.

I also test mag about every two weeks - this is when my alk/cal dosing containers run low and basically time to add some of the mag solution. I will run all tests if anything looks abnormal with the tanks.

Alk needs to be tested once a day until values are stable. Then once a week is good. If your Alk is in check most likely Cal is in check, but like Mag, need to check at least once a week. NO3 and PO4 should be tested once a week until values are stable also.

I test all, ca, and mag about every week to every two weeks. Depending on how I feel and what the tank looks like, salinity I test around my water changes about two weeks to a month
