I'll start.... Got up this morning, went out to the garage. SQUISH! ARGH! Now what! Flooded garage. I looked at the system, all was good. I turned around only to see my 55 gallon gas off barrel was over flowing! (no float valve) cause I NEVER fill it past half. So now I'm cleaning the garage floor. HINT: Make certain all water with out a float is turned OFF before going to bed. :tsk:

Ditto on the reserve overflowing and flooding the garage. Did it twice before, but finally got a round to installing the float valve just this past weekend. Sorry to hear it happened to you, but glad I'm not the only one!!!

Ha how about doing the same but in the laundry room in a finished basement... Or worse a third floor apartment! I have done both. The garage is no place for RODI water in the winter here in Fargo, ND...lol

I saw someone on facebook mention his worst was flooding his apartment on the 65th floor in New York. The water went below and ruined someones artwork. THe insurance claim was $400K worth or art.

When I start a water change I can hear that clown car music at the circus in my head. I drop a hose with water in it all the time.

I started meassuring a dKH above 16 one day and couldn't figure out why. Few days later when i went to grab my water containers to do a waterchange i saw that an empty one was labeled KH. Turns out i had emptied a five liter container of KH balling solution into my ATO container. Lucky enough nothing died

Turned on the unheated, slow drip, manual TO, made my lunch and went to work. The call from my son came almost three hours later. "Dad, the tank is sweating and the floor is all wet." It was a sad day. :sad:

Here's my bad girl list:
-Dropped a fan in the sump and electrocuted everything including pumps
-Spilled 50g on floor
-Broke glass heater, shattered glass in sump
-Put sock in sump that was somehow exposed to laundry detergent
-Got paly juice in TINY hangnail.... sausage finger, infection and antibiotics (I inspect and superglue cuts now)
-Ran out of gas while transporting tanks with trailer. Blew fuel pump on 2014 vehicle and was forced to sleep in in back of vehicle with dog in freezing temps until next day rescue

One of my most boneheaded moves was hooking up a single stage ranco controller on a customers tank to run a heater and on accident putting it on chill mode which means it was running the heater trying to get the temp down to 76 but instead sent it too 100. Surprisingly only lost one fish. No corals in the tank thankfully.

I once got the bright idea that I could use the "Python" to return freshly mixed SW to my DT from the vat during a WC. Something should have told me that it was hooked up to the faucet for a good reason. :squigglemouth:

* Left the heater unplugged after maintenance in the dead of winter
* unplugged the chest freezer to mess with tank equipment and not plugging it back in. for 2 days. In July
* Did water change in middle of winter and forgot to put heaters in new water. BRRRRRRR...
* calibrated Salinity probe and Refractometer on OLD solution.... Result Salinity of 43.5 ppt.

Been lurking for awhile and since I have made a number of stupid mistakes thought this would be the best place for my first post. When I first started out with this hobby\obsession, during a water change while syphoning out water I was not paying attention to the suction end of the tube (busy watching the water level of the bucket) and ended up sucking up and destroying a beautiful patch of frogspawn. I remember being so mad that I had done that... guess I may still a little salty about it. (pun intended)

......got busted by a cop for doing 60 mph in a 30 zone when I was 16 years old. Ticket was $95.00 and I almost went to jail. But the worst part was having to tell my Dad.
