Hey guys, recently I have been looking at different types of "critters" to keep in my reef tank and I wanted to see what the reef2reef community mambers are keeping. I was wondering what strange inverts you guys have in your reef tanks that do not get much recognition(from the reefing community) for how awesome they can be. So please post pictures of your inverts(clams, crabs and the works) also if you have a unique species please don't be shy to boast.

Has anyone kept a porcelain crab before?

I think I have 5 of them.

These guys are cool.

Rock crabs. Very common in the shallow water here.

But these baby octopus that hatched out in my tank were the coolest. They would grab a brine shrimp, wrestle with it and ink.

This is my red hawaiian reef lobster. He lives in his own tank after killing a lionfish, anglerfish, and eating some zoas. He’s so aggressive he’ll attack your hand if you put it in the tank, and he’ll ‘posture’ at you through the glass like in the second photo when you go over to him. Definitely an interesting invert for a species tank, but far from reef safe... or fish safe.

Nice Flamingo’s Tongue! Do you also have gorgonians for it to feed on in your tank?

Also, you do realize in that 2nd from last picture it’s a cone snail & that they are venomous, right?
Cone snails are carnivores, I have seen them take out a sleeping clownfish. I think there is a hermit crab in the cone snails shell

Yes my flamingo gets a steady supply of coral to eat. A Halloween hermit is chilling in the cone shell
