I've been struggling with GHA for months now and for whatever reason, after dosing Aquaforest Life Source a week for the past couple of weeks-- the GHA has been melting. I know it's something outcompeting the algae but that's my finding so far. I also run a refugium with red macro algae for months that seem to lose to the GHA until now. I bumped up my skimming now to keep nutrients within parameters as the melting GHA is going to throw the tank out of whack again.

How is red macro in refugium doing with dosing Aquaforest product?

PS: I just googled the product.

So, how long have you been using miracle mud?

Used it for the past two weeks.

Macro seems ok. Nothing dramatic but it seems just a bit more than what I started with.

This is bad logic. Opportunistic algaes like dinoflagellates, GHA & Cynobacteria thrive when ornamentals fail with zero nutrients. You need to feed your reef and get some suitable herbivores like bulldozer urchins.
im going to make a trip later this week to my LFS to gear up with some herbivores.

Yes, make sure you get an urchin (pencil or pin cushion). Super effective for the long haired algae. Crabs and snails don't touch those.

1 day after the WC and not much has changed. seems like the regrowth is slower now though. Just need to get some algae grazers in there!!
