I’m refinishing this stand for my 120 Gallon SCA Aquarium, and noticed this brace was removed. It was Poorly Glued in and it looks like it was just, with Very Small Finish or Brad Nails, Nailed into place at each end. The Aquarium was set up for a while, by the previous owner, on **Carpet, with no problem. “I saw the Aquarium set up.” **I personally would never do this. Strip the Carpet back, and Tile or Vinyl Flooring.

not sure of your question, but I understand why the brace was removed. That brace was immaterial anyhow. Why would I remove the carpet and put in vinyl or tile. Suggesting tile here.. Most tanks that are on stand give limited space for the sump and not to scare you but 1 x out of 10 chances are the return pump hose will come off for some stupid reason and well.. Got Mop?

Not sure about anyone else, but a reef tank is a long term commitment.. 10 years is a nice number.. Having a pressboard tank stand.. WOW LOL.. that **** is going to separate at one time or another just from the weight, you will see it on the corners..

Most stock SCA tanks have a center tower style overflow. The cutout in the stand is for the plumbing. I'm guessing this is not a stock SCA stand, and the brace was removed to accommodate the plumbing. Shouldn't be an issue with a "strut" on either side of the removed brace.

I just found out the Stand and Aquarium are made by Crystal Dynamics, out of California. The Aquarium looks a bit like a SCA. If anyone is looking for an Aquarium with a different footprint, you should check them out. They have a 150 Gallon that is 48” wide. They no longer offer Wood stands, Iron or Aluminum, with optional wood cladding.
