Im working on a upgrade to a new tank. I built the tank last week some Im ready to start doing some planning on what lights I want to go with.
Over my current tank Im running a 6bulb ATI sunpower but its not enough light to cover the new tanks foot print so Ill have to add another 4 bulb sunpower or go back to MH.
I can get a killer deal on this fixture http://www.reefgeek.com/lighting/Me..._HO_-_Fixture_Only_(Black)_by_Sunlight_Supply
thru my work and already have a ballast for it so the queston is would it be enough light for a 54"x36"x20 the water level will be about 18" this tank is rimless so retro wont work. Thanks for any help

if you are keeping the fixture at 18" above the water, i think it should work. you are only 6" short or 3" on each side. That should be plenty of light spread.

Thanks I'm not real worried about it covering the length as much as im worried it covering the 36 wide

On my 90 cube it was 36" wide, and having a 175w halide direct in the center 10" off the water covered edge to edge

Thanks I think Ill give it a shot if I dont like it I can go back to T5s

Leds just go for it save$$$$

I have Leds over my small cube they just wont cover the area and Ive been running them on the cube for a few months now Im not real thrilled with the growth so no leds on the big tank right now maybe later when they get better and cheaper
