I've been recently thinking of buying an RODI unit, I don't have a fish store to buy water from- I've been buying distilled water from my local kroger but its like $0.80 a gallon. storing it and constantly going out to buy it is a pain.

I really do not know ANYTHING about rodi units, except what they do. Does anyone have experience with relatively low priced units (in college, can't afford much)? I have a 10g tank so I really don't need a great one/one that pumps out water super fast. Or suggestions on what to look for when purchasing a unit?

You can get a RODI unit on Amazon for around 100 bucks. I really thought about getting that one but this is a get what u pay for deal. I ended up getting a 5 stage BRS unit for 250 on sale. The $100 unit will almost certainly make RODI water with 0 TDS (this depends on how dirty your water is out of the tap. This can be checked with a cheap TDS meter from amazon) but I fully expect the BRS unit to last for many years. I have a pico 3.4g tank now but I'm planning a 50g. I have been buying gallons at Walmart too. Looking forward to having it on hand for sure! That's my .02 and I hope it helps!

If I were in college I’d probably get this one for about $150
