Sorry for the poor quality photo. I ‘re-homed’ this Banner Fish to a friend’s home, and hadn’t see him for a while. I had no idea how long his ‘banner’ would grow. Looks like no end in sight. (Lol) Best wishes to all.

Oddly, the Banner Fish I kept is about twice the size, but the ‘banner’ has stopped growing. Word to the wise: I bought them to school, but didn’t realize that they are actually two slightly different kinds of Banner Fish— and the one bullied the other two (which actually did want to school).

Mine looks just like Kendrid’s. Supposedly as they get bigger the banner gets shorter, at least on the schooling banner fish. Fast growers too!

Can anyone still find H. diphreutes? I only ever see the non-reef safe Heniochus.

Sure you can, it’s been at least two months. I bought it and shipped it to Humblefish Aquatics for qt protocol. It’s been in my tank about a month, maybe a little more.
You might check with him. Last I knew he had one for sale. Humblefish Aquatics is the website.

I got mine from Live Aquaria in May. I had alerts setup for all sizes for five years to get this fish. I actually ordered one on 09/15/2014 from them but UPS lost it for a day so the entire order was dead when it arrived. Since then every six months or so I would get an in stock notification but they would always be sold.

Mine has been in my display for about three weeks now, it went through a long quarantine. At first it was bullied by a clown but now it stands it's ground and is doing better.

Mine is growing like crazy. It started out about quarter size and in about two months has gotten about half dollar size. Very active fish too, always searching for food or such in the rocks.

An update on mine, he is now like yours and all over the tank constantly cleaning the rock. It doesn't let anyone bully it anymore. Very cool fish, just difficult to obtain.
