hello, this "thread like" thing has been on my Goniopora for several days. At first I thought it was a hair and removed it twice. Then I noticed it always came back. When the polyps were retracted at night I shined a light on it and looked for some creature on t but I didn't see anything. I've had it for a little over 3 months and it has been doing well (all my corals have been well). I included a picture of the whole coral to show its health and then the picture with the "thread"

Any ideas what it is?

I believe it is just waste being expelled. My corals do it all the time. usually blows off with the current. From what I have experienced it is nothing to worry about. If i am looking at the right thing.

Never thought of that. Makes sense. Its the thread like or spider web strand on the left side going at an angle up to the top of the picture.

Looks like the feeding web from a Vermatid snail. Look around for a small, feather-duster-type tube sticking out of a nearby rock. If so, it's still mostly harmless, but may eventually begin irritating your coral into retracting it's tentacles which can affect it's health long-term.

I thought it might be a vermatid snail. I looked around and didn't see one. I'll keep an eye on it.

Looks like a Alevopora rather Goniopora and a harmless feather duster.

They're not there now. Maybe my six line wrasse made quick work of them. Probably not so lucky:(

With most FW I would agree but you need to be very observant of Red Planaria they can become very invasive, problematic.

I looked around and they are still there. Flatworm exit, extra carbon and water change sounds like the way to go. Hopefully the infestation hasn't become an infestation yet.

It was a vermatid snail. I took the rock out today and found it. Sneaky sucker was where you couldn't get at him unless you took it out.
