Greeting,

Back in 2017 I stood up a 75gal what was supposed to be a mixed reef tank which turned into a FOWLR tank due to apathy a bunch of life altering events. I was keeping alive but my heart was in it. So new year, new resolutions so I went to work taking back my tank from Coralline Algae. Well turns out, that has been helping my PTSD majorly. So I am going to do a upgrade and tear down my old tank and I have some questions.

When I stood up my 75gal (I have a rather lame build thread), I purchase a TBS package with live rock and "sand" and the plan is to bring that all over and supplement it with some bagged sand and mix it together in the new tank. Anyone see any issues with doing that? All my levels as far as my testing regiment so figure this would drastically reduce a cycle if have one at all.

Another thing I must do to save my sanity is rockscape better. I more or less just stacked the live rock but didnt cement it had multiple landslides and I am done with that. So I believe it is possible to do that in water, any recommendations on product or technique? Trying to figure out if I should do it in the new tank before fish are moved over or move fish over then do it in old tank then move to cut down on pollution?

As a precaution I have ordered a triton test to make sure there is nothing hidden lurking in original tank if I see funky metals or stuff then I will punt and start fresh using....well I dont know, I just hope it does not come to that.

As soon as I finalize what I want, I will start another 47.31% less lame build thread. Tomorrow I will be building mock stand sizes out of foam core to test getting down my stairs in my basement. Tank will be coming in one of my basements half windows to minimize potential damage.

So look forward to more stupid questions in the next few months, hopefully I will avoid making dumb mistakes if I actually ask for advice vs taking the "hold my beer" method.

Tom

I would just completely replace the old sand. Probably going to be a big mess otherwise.
As for ancborian tbe rockwork, there are a couple of companies that make a 2 part epoxy putty especially designed for this.
Off the top of my head the only company I can remember is 2 little fishies.

BRStv has some *excellent* videos on aquascaping, where they discuss a number of different products that they use to cement rocks together. I would check them out!
