Tiny Blueline Angelfish

I looked at the queen as well, I thought that would be awesome but I was not sure if the maintenance requirements would be something you would want to deal with. I don't like being a pessimist about these things either, because I feel like there are way to many posts out there already that just come in and say "no," to everything without even trying to find a solution. With that being said, I want to help you find yours.

What are roughly the sizes of your fish? Do you mind if I get a picture of your entire DT and it's dimensions?

DT is 240gals 8’x2’x2’ current stocklist include:
5-6” annularis angelfish
5” magnificent foxface
4-5” mustard tang (would want to rehome this guy)
4” PBT
4” PT
4” Blue Tang
3-4” HYT
3” scribbled angelfish
3” Flame Angel
2-3” Multicolor Angel
A pair of percs around 2” (that wouldn’t want to swim together ugh)

Sorry for your loss, you had great advice.

Blueline are one of my favorite angels, but they can be tough to get eating. Part of it I hypothesize is that they’re accustomed to somewhat cooler waters. It’s true that they’re also a bit shy. I would keep a QT around 75-76 for bluelines as that’s not cool enough to harm most other fish, and on the higher range for them. You can slowly increase it and they adapt well, typically.

I'm thinking of another one, so they would become a pair. A smaller female or a juvenile probably, given the size of my scribbled, so that the larger one would transform into a male (hopefully).

Yeah, it really sucks, and the thing is it's difficult to find another one, so I might abandon the thought of owning one, unless I get another large tank or upgrade to a larger one and a chance of buying them pops up.

They’re more available in the summer. In winter and spring months it’s mostly juveniles and they’re sparingly offered.

Sadly, I rarely see them here (I'm outside U.S. btw).

Try to make sure they have as big of a difference in size as possible. I have a "pair" that were closer in size than I would have liked and had to be separated with both showing signs of being male and beating on each other. I bought another one, but much much smaller and will be giving it a try with one of the big ones once it is thru qt.

They're tough to find anywhere not close to the china sea. They're often shipped from Vietnam and China as I understand it.

Currently the one I have is still at 3", would probably wait for it to grow 2" more, just before the expected size of it to turn male (heard they turn into a male around 5.5-6") and would add a 3" one to the mix. That's the current plan, hopefully it pans out

Bad news, woke up to a dead fish this morning.

It would be quite a while before I get another blueline, not sure if I should wait for it or just go for another angel. Basically, it’s unpredictable when there will be

If I do not go for another one, any suggestions for an angel? Thinking of a French but man it goes too big for a 240 gal

Have you looked into the captive bred from Poma Labs? I don't think that you will have any issues with getting these guys to eat.

I really wanted those captive-bred ones from poma labs, but as I mentioned to 4Ford, I'm not in the US :(

Oh, that's a tough one there. I'm also thinking about the fact that the next one coming in smaller may get picked on quite a bit. I wonder if having them both in quarantine for a little while might induce the pairing behavior...

Yeah, it's a tough one both ways: catching the existing scribbled or to pair them up in the DT.

If you wouldn't mind, how do you plan to pair up yours @nonstopfish?

Another scribbled to pair up with my existing one
French Angel (not sure how huge they go)
Chrysurus Angel
Queen Angel

Would really love a Passer, but these guys are brutes, I didn't consider the Emperor, Majestic or Blueface because they're quite common here.
