Now that it's able to move about the natural tendency would be to hide until it recovers fully to avoid being preyed on. I wouldn't expect to see it for up to a week.

ahhh cmon. if he died, there would be no remains in a week.

Actually I have discovered skeletal remains of fish before when tearing down tanks. Not enough to ID but a vertebrae here and a rib there. Not much eats that. One a high note often wrasse assumed dead will pop out of nowhere weeks or months later.

trusting my gut instinct... i did a round about in all the usual places in my tank...

That's too bad.

Did it always have a black tail like that? That's unusual for a carpenter.

Well sorry that it ended like that , but at least you gave him a shot. I didn't see if you mentioned if you had a screen top or not, but if not its a good idea.

Sorry for your loss. [emoji53]

eh it happens. he was a top-tank swimmer though. I was actually contemplating if he would jump sometimes.
no screen. just a canopy. if i were to rectify the situation it would be to put an acrylic wall on the back side of the canopy.

i plan on getting a lower-risk wrasse like a leopard in the future. my melanarus wrasse is nothing like that carpenter.
