Hello! I hope you're all doing well. I am new to the reef keeping hobby, and currently have just two tanks set up. I am slowly adding coral to my vertical 6 gallon nano reef, and the toadstool leather coral really caught my eye, and my clownfish and anemone shrimp I feel would really appreciate it. However they can grow quite large in just a few years. By chance are there any species or types that stay relatively small? If not, what kinds of coral have similar appearance while still being beginner friendly?

Most soft corals are beginner friendly or easy to take care of because their requirements are fairly easy along with soft corals not needing as high of demand of calcium due to not having a stony structure. Luckily with leather corals you can easily frag/propagate them without harming them. Because soft corals are fairly easy to take care of they tend to grow the most rapid out of any categories of coral due to their easy requirements. I would say if you want something with a little more interesting and discernible difference try to find a Japanese leather coral due to its striking colors rather than a standard brown/pink toadstool leather.
