Alright guys, so I post a little while ago about my toadstool and zoanthid. I have corrected my parameters, increased flow, turned light up and they are looking worse. Any suggestions on what this may be? Some better pictures for ID
Parameters
Alk 8.7
PH 7.9
Calc 400
Mag 1310
Salinity 1.026
Nitrate 10
Phos 0.09

Also, all my other corals are in perfect health! Lava lamp discosoma, green strip discosoma, Duncan, frogspawn and clove polyps!

Toadstool 150, zoas just shy of 80. Tank is coming up on 10 months now
Hhmm, that seems fine. Leather corals can be grumpy and stay closed for awhile especially if they are in shedding phace. Do you have them in light to low moderate flow? Did you measure par with a par with a par meter?

I dont think that toad stool is going to survive the algae that has taken hold on it.

Yes I would say more on the moderate side. Since it has closed up a lot of algae has been growing in it so I moved it to slightly higher flow. It’s been closed over 2 weeks now. And yes, it was an apogee rented from my LFS. The top of my leather had white bleach like spots on top for a day, then coloured back up and then the algae on top came

Awww no, paid a decent price for this guy too. Biota Mt Dew toadstool… do you think if I were to do a peroxide dip or a two little fishies revive dip I could save it? Or do you think I could try and possible frag it?

fragging it will increace your odds but you need to get the fundimentals down to keep the algae at bay. Otherwise it will just happen again. It looks like your tank is pretty new too. Possibly not stable yet.

10 months old. I added extra dry rock in about 3 months ago. Algae I believe is because about a month ago my phos hit 0.47. Slowly brought it down to 0.07 and I now have it steady around 0.09

I remember your thread, I remember the long stem on the toadstool, is it still long and thin after you increased the lighting? When did you increase the lighting.... it will take time to acclimate to the light after being low light for so long - one year if I remember your post correctly, so it will take longer than a couple of weeks to regain normalcy.

Algae growing on the toadstool top itself is not good, it means the coral itself is not getting any light if algae is on top of it. I would take a turkey baster and try to blast it off, perhaps even use a soft toothbrush to try to brush it off both the top and the stem.

My 2 cents is the same as previously, that leather needs more light and more water flow.

Well this picture still shows life. Since your tank is 10 months old have you done a recent ICP test to check everything?

I have not done an ICP test no. I have just been testing KH, CA, MG, nitrate, phosphate, salinity, ph

Well if you do weekly water changes then your ICP test should come back decent but now that your tank has been set up awhile, it might benefit you to have one done twice a year so you can see everything

Yes I do a 5gallon water change a week. Every Tuesday evening. Turns out to be an 18.5% water change weekly based on the app I use. An ICP may not be a bad idea, it could tell me if the rodi water from my LFS is not up to par. I use Aquaforest reef salt and mix it to 1.025sg

What ICP test do you normally go with?
ATI labs. $45 on Amazon. But check with the lab customer service to make sure it has the correct pre printed shipping label. Some Amazon vendors are still selling the lab sample with an old shipping label by mistake. I have used ATI for 4 years with good results.
