I’m wondering if it is unwise to have the following fish in a 20l QT tank. Bioload isn’t an issue as I am doing the tank transfer method so there won’t be enough time to build up ammonia. Compatibility isn’t an issue as far as I’m concerned, it’s really about stress from density, if at all.

8 lyretail anthias. Each about 1.5-2 inches
Six line wrasse. 1.5 inch
2 bangaii cardinals. 1 inch each
Desjardini sailfin. 3 inches

I have a 10 g QT also setup, but it would be a lot more convenient to have all fish in the 20l.

I would agree that just the 8 anthias would be too much, you'll have ammonia issues and likely aggression issues. If you can, scoop up a 40 breeder, they're great qt tanks and can be gotten fairly cheap

Way too much IMO. I've QT'd 3 wrasses in my 20L but I wouldn't do more than that. Crabs idea is a good one though even then if you don't have really good biofilter you will have to watch ammonia closely.

Seems like a lot for even a 10 gallon. I'd use both.

I normally do get fish in batches like that and my first qt tank is a 40 gal and second a 20 gal.
I think it be too much for a single 20g to handle that many fish due to many reasons.

I’ve got the 8 anthias in the 20l. The sailfin, sixline and 2 bangaii are in the 10 g.
How’d you make out with the 8 anthias in the 20l tank? I’m thinking of doing 7 in a 20l. What method did you do and what did you dose?
