I have a small Duncan (5 heads) in my tank. I have had it about 18" away from my lights. In the morning when only four of the t5 bulbs are on all of the polyps are fully extended and it looks great. At noon when all eight of the t5 bulbs turn on the polyps close up. Is it possible that it doesn't like the amount of light?

Should I try to move it further down in the tank and see how it is does?

No. Flow was constant in the spot it was at. It wasn't in direct flow from my koralia or return. It was a little off to the side but still got some good water movement.

Well it's Been open all day long since I moved it further away from my light. Which is good. But it's polyps aren't as extended as they were before. What could that mean?

Duncans in my experience seem to prefer par under 150. I've got one cluster running at 175 and the polyps are much smaller now. I need to move it back down. :( Bums me out because they're beautiful and I want them lit, darn it!

@DurocShark , good idea, i need to do the same.

I have a green whisker duncan that legit sits a few inches below my acros and its so shaggy it looks like a dang torch. I can only assume it depends on the duncan itself. And yes, i did acclimate it to that intensity.

I've had my Duncans at different heights in my tank and can handle quite strong lighting The only differences The stronger the lights and the more paler looking they become. here's mine
