starting a 100g - 48x22x22
I've got a 8x54 matrixx II W ATI bulbs. Overkill?

Since you already have it – no. :)

Get the height right for coverage and take some measurements with a lux or PAR meter to see what light is hitting the tank. I bet it's fine. Use fewer bulbs if intensity is a problem. :)
