Top fin tear

Today I notice my purple tang top fin is in 2 sections. It has always been 1 piece. What could have happen. Is it a disease.

Today I notice my purple tang top fin is in 2 sections. It has always been 1 piece. What could have happen. Is it a disease.

What else is in the tank with it? Tears are semi common and will heal in short time.

3 other tangs, clown, royal gramma, wrasse. I have had these fish for 6 years. this is the first time it has happen.

They might be getting too big and starting to feel like there are too many fish in the tank, so aggression is starting to happen?

I have not seen any bad behavior. They are in 180gal tank.

Likely got in a scuffle and it should heal in a day or two.

Thanks to everyone that made a comment. Fin healed right up. Hippo tang is the problem.
