I bought a torch 2 days ago. It looked fine when I bought it, but today has what looks like brown jelly disease. I think I had it to close to a frog spawn, but not sure if that's what caused it. I already have some Povidone-iodine 10% (iodine available 1%) at home. I've read different threads on using it, but most of them are older and not definivative. Does anyone have any info on how to use this?

I'm not a chemist, so the difference between Lugol's solution and Povidone-iodine is there, just not sure if it would be okay to use. They have different chemistry between them.

I've always used Lugol's solution.

Bjd is a killer and a fast one. Generally speaking dips are no help against bjd especially a dip that you know nothing about

Dip in iodine
Dip in Coral RX
Brush off dead tissue from skeleton
Super glue gel over expose skeleton

This work for me on a torch. I think the superglue is key for this to work.

I thought this torch was a goner. Half the mouth had melted away, but here it is 2 months later.

Maybe you shouldn't make assumptions that I know nothing about Povidone. I used to work in aquaculture and still have some. The problem is that I don't remember the mixing ratio. Also, we did it in large batches and I only need it for a very small amount. I went ahead and mixed some up from what I think it was. I will have to see if it helps.
