I already did.. lol caught 80% of them. Put em ina cup with rubble in a partially shaded very low flow area. So it doesnt blow around or out. Hard to tell with the bubbles on the glass. But i got maybe 20 or 30 in there.

Thats be awsome if i got 20 torch corals from this lol.

There's a couple threads here with torch spawns if you search up top you should be able to reach out and see if that resembled anything they seen before babies started popping up.
Doesn't look like poop but could be I suppose.

Me too, I expected to see zooxanthellae cast mucus strings

I don’t think they’re self fertilizing though, thats a poorer adaptive trait compared to gamete mixing

it needs a buddy im thinking, readied just the same. I think you just got half the equation heh

Yea it isnt poop its eggs from what i found doing research.

Decided to put a rock on top of my glass oartially. To reduce flow more and keep fish out of it. Specially ny tangs. My sailfin tang was eating them on the torch

That one coral below skeleton is producing anthocauli new growths you have certainly fed well and exported well we can see by small pic details. The rocks and sand are free of invasion too

Numbers of times we saw true sexual reproduction via egg/gamete release before 2010

i don’t recall any

it was always cloning. frag grow outs, preserves old genetic line.

might have been some egg + gamete events but not as common fare like we see nowadays. Care improvement and feeding quality seems like strong candidates for the rapid onset of clownfish breeding and corals acting truly natural. Great thread.

tubastrea has been known to reproduce sexually for a long time and pocillopora too but nowadays so many lps and sps are pulling it off, nice reefing.

look how much NOAA references forum works

thats a peer reviewed formal research article, and they cannot cause what you just did with that torch on purpose. They set up multi containers to -hope- it happens, to study disease and reproduction, coaxing gamete production is a big deal in marine biology. Those gals and guys would applaud you.

Well my 135g has no sump or skimmer. Just hang on backs for mechanical and or chenical if i need it.

I just wrnt through a bacterial disease and had antibiotica in the tank fir 7 days too.. so i dunno lol

Its weird. I never feed my torch either. And the skeleton below it is a bubble coral im trying to bring back that nearly died ina local fish store. Its growing just gonna take awhile to come back.

Also i use tap water for my water changes... I get attacked on here for that but aparently what im doing is working.

It might be the antibiotics i used too maybe ? I did 7 days of doxycyline. Then two 50g water changes. Carbon and 5-6 days later the torch coral spawned

This is awesome. Made me think about my system this last year. I've had alot of uos and downs with pretty much every issue I can imagine. Having said that ive also seen some extraordinary things like corals totally morphing into unrecognizable corals. Totally changing colors. Bouncing you name it.
Wonder if they aren't trying to hard and should maybe be trying to replicate the instability corals may go through in the ocean to try and get them to naturally reproduce.
