So within the last couple months a few of my torches tentacles have been retracted where they are not out and flowing. They are at a point where they are out a little bit but not super extended like you would think a torch should be. I cannot find a reason why and have really struggled to fix it. I 4 different torches and 1 of them actually looks really good and is the most recent one being 1.5 months old but the rest all have retracted polyps. If something was causing them to be closed shouldn’t it be for all of them? All other lps and sps is completely fine literally just these 3 torches. I have dipped them for worms, nothing. I only have 3 fish currently but 5 more arriving next week. Could it be from lower nutrients. Nitrates run around 10 while phosphate has been low around 0-.03. Alk 8.3-8.6 calcium 430-440 and mag 1400. Any ideas why. Pics below, first pic you can see they are closed compared to second pic with other torch that looks great. Thanks for help

They actually look good to me but perhaps you are comparing them with how they looked when you first got them. Your parameters are solid but I Wouldn’t be comfortable with phosphate at .03. I would bump it up to.05-.1. That leaves par and flow. Do you know your par? Are they getting moderate random flow?

What about the lighting please? As mentioned, if everything is in order but corals slowly getting unhealthier can be a sign of low light

I don’t know the par exactly but I have lowered them because I thought they were getting too much light. With my research I would estimated there getting around 125-200 max. Flow is completely fine as the one gold torch above the others looks great. I just took a water test to lfs since they have Hanna checkers. Phosphate was .36 so pretty high. I was testing was salifert kits which I know aren’t the best but though it would be close enough clearly not. I would assume it’s because of high phosphates. Added phos guard to help and will probably invest in some Hanna checkers here soon.

It’s weird because even with the higher phosphates nothing else looks out of ordinary even if it’s been this way for a few months. Gonis look great. Multiple hammers have split multiple times since then. And even my new acros look happy so far. Even with the 1 torch looking great I would think they would all be the same. So I’m gonna try to lower phosphate and see if that works. Any other ideas maybe?
