I scrubbed polys off a rock before (out of the tank), wore gloves, eye protection. It gave me a rash on my arm that lasted a month.

For me it really depends on the corals I am touching. Not going into the paly thing as I have gone blind twice for two days. Headaches. Anyway, some coral (euphyllias) really bother me leaving fingers numb. Some do not bother me at all. Learned over time which are which for me.
However, I always use my super thick industrial gloves with rock. I had a fireworm get me once. OUCH!

I’ve always had no problems touching coral although I try not to touch the tissue if I can help it. Even after a nasty anemone sting i still don’t wear gloves. It doesn’t really bother me, I just try to stay away from my huge BTA lol
