Theres a difference between keeping and growing gonis. You can buy some and get great polyp extension for six months to a year and then they shrink up and fade away. I've had my fair share of these.
I've found though, that the reds are easier and the short tentacle encrusting are easier still. When you get them encrusting - not just generating new polyps - then you know you've turned the corner with them and they'll live.
Some people feed them...I've never had much luck with this. Its tough sometimes to tell what is really a feeding response although they'll puff up twist and look all kinds of weird ways.
I keep mine in slightly higher flow than what gives maximum extension and keep greens low and reds high - is this right? I don't know - its just what I think works best form me.
