All,

I am interested in what is the process to get on trident controlled dosing using all for reef. I'm planning on putting it in my DDR to be dosed along side ab+ but I'm not sure how to set it. Thoughts anyone?

I used my trident to control my A4F by monitoring and controlling the Alk. I find that if I get the Alk stable with the dosing the Calc & Mg follow nicely.

Does the trident ever read correct Ca? Mine never has seemed to and this is my second unit.
What Ca readings are you getting?

I’ve never had a problem with Trident Ca readings.

Here are my current readings and Ca has been stable. I will say that I just preformed the Trident service after I contacted them about my readings jumping around. My Teident is 2 years old and they let me in the Beta to rebuild. Since the rebuild my numbers have been rock solid. Before I was hitting like 600 Ca on occasion. Didn’t really pay attention since I knew it was probably off and the rebuild confirmed that.

I frequently get readings in the low 600's it's very inconsistent.
Yeah, you should likely reach out to support.

With that being said, I just performed the DIY service on my Trident and noticed that the cuvette was "stained" from use over 2 years (it wipes out, so it can be cleaned) and that might have something to do with you inconsistent readings (incidentally, replacing that is part of the maintenance kit).

Any update on AFR and trident automatic dosing? Looking to start this possibly this weekend

Can you elaborate on what you mean by Trident automatic dosing? Are you referring to the Tridents controlled dosing? If so as a user of All For Reef and a Neptune Trident it is the wrong product to use. This is because alkalinity isn't immediately available based on how the product works. There is a delay and I've seen it show up 12 to 30 hours later. You may be able to do it off calcium but I wouldn't.

The Trident and DOS combo works great with traditional 2 part and I've used it back when I was using ESV 2 part. They did a great job on the implementation and fail safe but again, in my experience, AFR isn't a good product for this feature set.

So you use AFR but still dose your 2part based off the trident reading

No and I apologize for not being clear on what I meant.

I was originally using ESV 2 part to manage my water chemistry. At some point in time I enabled the Trident controlled dosing to see if it made any difference in chemistry trends. So during this time the only product I was dosing was ESV 2 part.

Later in my displays timeline I made the switch to AFR. Once I made that switch I disabled the Trident controlled dosing due to how AFR works. So it is off, and has been, since I made that switch.

Right now the Trident only does the testing which is perfectly fine. Also in my use case I've not had to make many changes to my daily AFR dose. Once I got it dialed in it doesn't really change much.
