I have a birdsnest that has grown to where I can't get my algea scraper between it and the glass. When I cut branches off of it do I need to do anything to the nubs left on the colony, like put a dab of glue on them? I've never intentionally fragged a coral.

I wouldnt put glue on the end, unless you do not want it to stop growing out of that 'stump'. I am sure there are things you can do, but I have left mine as is in the past.

I'm fine with it continuing to grow from the nubs (I have no idea if that is the right word). I just have to trim it back, its getting pretty large and I cant clean the glass in one spot because of it.

Just cut off what you want. Be carful with the pieces as they can land elsewhere and star a new colony that you may not want.
