Thanks guys, just made my purchase for two clown fish and have drip acclimated them and added them to my tank after getting my salinity levels where they should be, they're fighting but i read that's normal. Should i be feeding them today or should i skip a day and how often do you guys feed yours i've heard that less is better so i might stick to once a day feeding.

Thank you for your response, i appreciate it, i might actually feed them tonight as they are babies, i purchased a few different types of food for them as i want to keep them as healthy as i possibly can. Which would you suggest out of those? I was thinking the liquid mysis, might be easier for their small mouths.

The liquid mysys should be good for now. You may want to look at Hikari frozen spirulina brine shrimp, and blood worms for them as well. You can pick those up at most good LFS.

In the future; Drip acclimation is typically not preferred, especially for fish that have been bagged for a long time. Leave bags closed and float for temperature. If salinity matches after opening, dump. If not 20% water changes every 10 mins or so. Do this until the salinity is close.

I read that people drip acclimate for an hour but that sounded excessive i did a short 15 minute drip acclimation and i did float the bag in my tank for a good 15 as well. If you do not think that drip acclimation is the preffered method i will take that advice. The fish were bagged for about 25 minutes. From the shop to home.

The concern with drip acclimation is not with 25 min bagging, but rather for fish bagged long times for shipping. Ammonia builds up, and drip acclimation raises pH during the drip, making the ammonia more toxic and potentially causing issues before the fish is out of that water.

Initially the clowns might ignore feedings, that's normal. Offer them small feedings, a mixture of frozen pellets.
I feed my clown and other fish at least 4 times a day. I feed a mix of frozen, small pellets and flake.

I would Feed at least three times a day, but that may not be possible due to your schedule. I'm retired so that's not a problem. In my opinion, many of the Clowns that are being Bred and Sold are just too small. I was at my LFS today and they had many very tiny ones some only 2 CM! Sure, they are super cute, but at a disadvantage at this size.

id be able to get twice a day feeds in with my schedule, i fed them just now with some AF Marine Mix Pellets but it looks like they're struggling to eat them, i'll return to the liquid mysis feeds as that seems to be easy for them to consume. The pellets have sunk to the bottom and remain there for now, should i get rid of them or leave them there to see if they give it another go? Cheers!

I agree. I’m seeing smaller and smaller fish. Seen some in the 2-4cm range! It’s crazy!

You can try lightly crushing some Pellets. I do that to feed my Mandarin.

Stay away from dry foods that have too much fillers. Spectrum only had wheat at a binder. Others have a whole list of crazy fillers.

Will do, thanks, what's an easy way to get rid of these leftoever pellets, ive been watching the clowns for a little while, theyll nip at the pellets but doesn't look like they'll consume them.

Thanks ill look into purchasing those, for now i just used a small beaker and sand flattener/ scraper to scoop all the pellets i could see out of the tank, i think i got them all
