My 11yr old daughter and I setup a 10Gallon Waterbox cube for her room this weekend. I realized I had a spare Apex Classic stuffed away in the closet, so I got it hooked up. The PH probe was shot and wanted one quickly, so I snagged one of these cheap ones off Amazon for under $15:

And some pics of the packaging once I got it:

I calibrated the probe, attached is to the Apex and it seems to be working just great. There's a specifications section in the manual that came with it:

Range: 0-14PH
Measuring Temp: 0-80C
Zero: 7 +- 0.25PH
Alkali Error: 15mV
PTS: >98.5
Response Time: <1min
Internal resistance: < 250M olm
Repeatability: <0.017
Noise: 0.5mV

I'm far from an expert on PH probes to determine if this is a total point of sale or it will do the job? Any thoughts out there? I was going to order a few more and keep them around rather than having to worry about cleaning them and recalibrating them.

Haven’t used anything other than Apex’s brand but it should be like any other off the shelf ones. Even with Apex they recommend calibration quarterly. I’d do the same with that one. My oldest Apex pH probe is 3 years old and still calibrates and keeps it with ease.
