This tank was transformed to be a fuge on approximately November 28th. Since then I’m starting to see possibly hair algae growing on the glass. Is this supposed to happen? Am I supposed to scrape it from the wall? Won’t it spread the spores to my DP? Any help would be great. Fire away with questions.

thank you!

Go ahead and scrape it off. Actually hair algae in your fuge isn't a bad thing. When you pull it out it removes nutrients from the water. Just like chaeto

Oh ALSO, unrelated... I have 5 PEppermint shrimps in the tank two emerald crabs and couple of snails. Are these not recommended to have in a fuge? And thank you Kenny! I’ll scrap it, but will it spread to the display?

I wouldn't worry about it "spreading" to your display, but if you have high nutrients then it could pop up in the display tank as well.

As for those critters they won't benefit your fuge much but they won't hurt it either.

How much do you care about having a display FREE of wires, pumps and equipment?
