I noticed this guy the other day. My photography skills leave a lot to be desired. Friend or Foe?

Can you take pictures under white light (ex. with a flashlight)? Looks like a harmless, filter-feeding tube worm.
I'll try under the daylight sequence. When I shine a flashlight on this thing it snaps back into its tube faster than I think I've ever seen a creature move before. It's pretty impressive actually.

Yes- uses the fan to capture food. I dont want them in my tank so i break them off at bottom base and if I cant reach them- a dab of gel superglue from dollar store over the opening of tube will starve them

This is about the best I could get with a flashlight. Anything brighter sends him back into the tube.

Only negative thing I can think of is them competing for food with something, but in small numbers I can't see that being a problem.

They are filter feeders and help keep the water column clean :)
