Tunne 9004 body mod?

I have a Tunze 9004 DC skimmer and misread my new AIO tank skimmer compartment dimensions. The space is 8 cm but Tunze is 9 cm in width.
Has anyone made new lower body to Tunze skimmer? Would it work in narrower body and what things I need to consider?
I am planning to use polycarbonate, because it is easy to bend and clue.
