I just upgraded my skimmer, my old coralife was getting loud. I just installed this today and though it obviously isn't broken in yet or skimming, it's making my tank run hotter. I have it in sump within the recommended water depth. I noticed on the side it says caution filter max heater 75 watts.. mine is 150 and I'm not going to buy a new heater. Does this have anything to do with it running hot? My heater is run via apex as is the fan. Any ideas?

Also I can't get the bubbles even half way up neck set fully open...probably part of the breakin period? It's sitting in 9 in water. Says it needs 8.86 to 9.65

I never measured my water depth, I just used the water line mark on the magnet side of the skimmer. Try that.

As far as the heat situation, what size tank are we talking about. I had my 9004 directly in a JBJ28 and never had issue with heat. The only thing I can think of, if it's a small tank, is that the "overrun" heat from the too large a heater is heating the tank too high. That is, the APex turns off the heater at, say 78, but the heater being too large, continues to put that residual heat into the tank.

As far as contacting Roger, you can do that by posting in the Tunze forum HERE.

I think the heat was just do too house being warm. It's been fine since midnight on. When putting in my skimmer. I got the height right for water but I can afford to raise it off bottom of sump. Will it still work properly sitting on the bottom?
