Hi fellow reefers,

I purchased the Tunze refugium LED. For my purpose it is too long, it spills light in other sump chambers. I will not use the light in the water. Questions is whether it is possible to use ducktape (or something else) to cover the end of the lamp I don't want to use. Is that allowed or will it overheat?

Thanks!

If I was to try anything it would be PVC pipe as a sleeve, tape will likely melt on overtime and be nearly impossible to remove.

If you are only covering a small area, no, and in any case, this light is only 8W or so and does not get very hot, if it overheats, a safety shuts it down. If you are covering more than an inch or so, I might use a bigger diameter pipe.

Thanks for the good advise!
