Hi!

I’m setting up a new 125 gallon SPS tank. Total water volume will be ~160 gallons. Looking for a DC option, would the 9430 be too large?

Thanks!

I would consider this a 125, the sump is largely empty volume, nothing more is living in the water that is really contributing waste load. I would either go with a 9410 with supplemental filtration or the 9415, the 9430 would be way overkill and the two DC models 9410 DC and 9430 DC have not been available all year and likely won;t for the remainder of this year. I can say from experience you don't want to way oversize a skimmer, a little more is OK, a little less is OK too if you can offset with GFO, water changes, chaeto, etc, but way overkill will do a lot of harm from bottoming out nutrients, especially if you have any other filtration methods.
