Turbelle Stream 3 6150 ?

Getting a Peninsula tank (72 x 24 x 25) and interested in the 6150.
Will mount them probably upwards on one side of the tank.
Will be for a mixed reef
Questions:
Is 1 pump enough or need 2?
Can they be controlled with the APEX also?

Thanks for any suggestions

In my 120 I have 2 6095's on the back wall and 2 6105's on the sides.
6095' pulse every 10 seconds.
The 6105's are both on at 100%.
Around 9000gph at any given time.
Plenty of flow.
I would go with 4 in that size tank.
2 on each end.
Or 2 on the oveflow side and a gyre on the other end.

1 will not enough... you will need at least 2... and maybe a few other smaller pumps to point at places that need a little more flow. The stream 3 upward directional attachment greatly reduces their flow. If you mounted them vertical across the long way... with the correct attachment it might be enough for a mix reef tank... but i'm sure you will have some dead spots among your rock work.

I run 2x 6150's and 2x 6095's in my 125. Love the flow, and love the pumps :)

On a peninsula, you're probably going to want to mount them horizontally, to get down the length of the tank. On my tank I have one on either side of the overflow pointing opposite directions. I then have the 6095's in the back corners pointed toward the center of the tank.

I suspect that you will need 2 or more to get adequate flow.

I run 2x Stream 3s (6150) on my 36x24x24 tank and get more than enough flow. I have them arranged in the vertical position (with the flow deflector) on both sides of my back wall for alternating flow. This isn't the most up-to-date picture of my tank, but here is how the Streams are placed.

I think two placed in a similar setup would be more than adequate flow for a 36x36x24 or 48x24x24 acropora tank, but 72 inches is a fair amount of distance for them to cover. You may be able to get away with two, but you would probably have to mount the Streams horizontally and use the flow rectifier.

I agree, you will need 2 and horizontal mount is far more effective than vertical, this video shows the flow patterns with the various flow directors/mounting position-

I have one in the back left corner of a 48x18x30h 110g. It provides a nice current in the tank. I have a ton of rock, so I suspect I'll be adding another powerhead of some type in the future - but I'm happy with it today. It replaced 2 smaller powerheads I had left over from a previous tank, rated for something like 1,000gph, but they were comparatively anemic and I think my tank is doing a lot better. I also use the moonlight/light sensor attachment- pretty cool and it ramps the pump down at night.
