I have starfish, about a dozen hermit crabs (blue and red), a single pistol shrimp, and snails. But my sand isn’t looking good. I expected the starfish to turn the sand/rock bed over more but it’s gathering a lot of algae on the top. It’s a rockier sand. Any other cleanup crew I can add to help? 80gal

I like nassarius snails to stir sand in smaller tanks. They're so cool when they all come out when they smell food. It's like rise of the walking dead lol. Being carnivores they are a good part of a cuc and it's easy to feed them if needed.
Some get fairly large also.

My nassarius snails, conches and twinspot gobies ( amazing how much sand these little guys filter) keep my sand pristine, haven’t touched it coming up on 5 years.
