Background:
I have been out of the hobby for just over five years and wow have things changed. I been trying to catch up on all the technology out there but still keep this new build simple. My last tank was a 150 gallon mixed reef with 3 250W Metal Halides. A 200 gallon basement sump that I had set up for about 8 years and had to move so sold everything. I been thinking about getting back in the hobby for the last few years but really wanted to get a “show tank”. I came across Innovative Marine and was thinking about going with the 25 gallon lagoon. Why doing research on there tanks I came across there concept tanks and fell in love with the drop off style tank. I started this tank about 5 months ago and kept a build thread on nano-reef. I have got a ton of good info from R2R and wanted to show everyone that has helped what I have able to come up with.

Equipment:
Tank: Innovative Marine AIO Abyss Panorama 20 gallon
Lights: Kessil A160
Controller: A- series Kessil Spectral
Return Pump: Mightyjet desktop
Power Head: MP10
Rock: Tonga Dry Rock & Pukani Dry Rock
Sand: Caribbean Fiji Pink
Stand: Franklin Cabinet (Kirkland’s)
Filtration: 2 CustomCaddy Media Baskets
ATO: Hydrofill Ti - ATO Controller System
ATO Reservoir:- Hydrofill Ti
Heater: Marina 100 Watt
Temperature controller: Inkbird ITC-306T

I am new to the all in one tanks so looking for any advice what to add to my media baskets. Looking to keep a low bio load mixed reef so no skimmer for now.

Update:
Back in October my cycle ended. I added my first fish a nenon dottyback. I know I know there are a lot of dottyback haters out there but with a small tank and not a lot of livestock I wanted a lot of color. I also added 4 hermits and some snails and a single head of hammer. After a few weeks with everything happy I added 2 clowns time to start adding more coral. I changed my light to a kessil 160W and added a Fuge. The Sicce 1.5 did not end up fitting so I am going with the mightyjet pump.

November and December were crazy with the holidays. I have added a lot of coral and a clam. Got a RBTA and it is been doing great and spit already. Of course my clowns want nonthig to do with it. Battled a bit of a GHA outbreak but as of now have it under control. Around this time I answered an add for coral for sale on Facebook. I went and met Nick and bought some of his LPS and a great friendship started. He was shutting down a nano and upgrading and was changing the direction he was going. He ended up giving me some very nice frags! I will start with some older pics up till I took some yesterday.

So in my topic I did say 2 drop off tanks! Not long after getting my panorama I really wanted the look of the peninsula. I was not able to find a stand that would work so I had to get one custom built. Also with this tank I really wanted something totally different then the other more “natural” looking tank. With help from a friend and a fellow reefer I was turned onto the bonsai look. I contacted Paul at West Mariculture and he came up with a custom design for me. I cycled the tank with some other rock I had but just last week my bonsai showed up so I was able to start adding coral.

Equipment:
Tank: Innovative Marine AIO Abyss Peninsula 20 gallon
Lights: Kessil A360
Controller: A- series Kessil Spectral
Return Pump: Mightyjet desktop
Power Head: MP10
Rock: Custom Bonsai from West Mariculture
Sand: None
Stand: Custom Made
Filtration: CustomCaddy Media Baskets
ATO: Tunze Osmolator 3155
ATO Reservoir:- Hydrofill Ti
Heater: Marina 100 Watt
Temperature controller: Inkbird ITC-306T

Paul at West Mariculture did a great job!

My plan right now is to have each plate have its own type of coral. Like one will be all different torch another will be all different frogspawn.

I have a long way to go but I am happy how they look so far. I have some great LFS in my area but still hard to find different color LPS.

Not a ton to update. Looking for more corals to help fill the plates but hard to find different color combinations. I did get a long fin goby and a candy cane pistol shrimp. They have not paired yet but hoping they do soon. Just a full tank shot not much has changed.

How's the MP10?
I have the same tank- Panorama and I am using a ow10 and might possibly switch to RP-M. From what I read it has a wider flow.

I been in and out of the hobby for for like 15+ years and this is the first time I have used a vortech powerhead. I am by no means a “vortech fanboy” But I have to say I will never use another style wave maker. The tank without the sand I can crank up the MP10 and it does a great job moving waist. I tired others on the tank with sand and had problems with sand blowing and dead spots. With the MP10 I have been able to really dial it in. I shopped around and got both of mine used.

hi is this tank going im looking to build similar but need some help on the design and the rad needed on the front and back pane of glass where the L shape is

also it looks like the 4 walls go around the base glass? not like just traditional tanks where the 4 walls sat on top of the base

Very cool tanks. I've never seen anything like the rockwork in your second tank. I like how it floats and connects the upper and lower sections of your tank. Are you planning to keep it bare bottom? I'd rarely advocate for adding GSP to a tank because it can take over so quickly but in your situation, it might be really awesome to have it grow out on the glass bottom and it would stay contained.

Love both your tanks; I've been out of the hobby for awhile; I'm a reefer from wwaaayy back. I can't decide on which one to get; I can't budget both due to $/time and many hobbies, but leaning towards the Peninsula due to the 2" more in height and shape. I know it's personal preference, but for care, does one of them have an advantage over the other? thanks in advance.
