Any one have a large colony of this or just a large piece they have a picture of? Its one of UC signature acros thought it would be more popular but not finding much if at all that isn't their own website. Just curious how my little frag is going to grow up. Thanks

Thank you for that but that's really all I have seen was looking for more hobbyist tanks that have it under different lighting and flow and to see what others are looking like.

even with the significant success most hobbyist now have, that is tough. I don't think most corals make it to colonies now a days, let alone several examples under diff flow and lighting.

Whoa! Almost all of my frags make it to colonies, and know of lots of others with significant sized corals... this I find hard to believe but hey maybe its different where your from..

I am not familiar with their corals but it looks like its probably not as orange in person. But I would like to see some pictures of peoples frags or colonies if its been long enough for people to grow them.

They are probably the only one with a colony. This looks like a wild millepora and has probably shrunken in size as they started to frag it for sale. It will be years before any hobbyist has this coral to any appreciable colony size. There is a good chance that it just falls by the wayside like so many of the recent import-and-frag stuff has.

IMO, if you want a similar looking coral with proven lineage, then look at the ASD Rainbow Millepoar... it is just an orange millepora (no idea why they called it "rainbow").

As for their stock photo, look at the purple egg crate. You ever seen purple egg crate available for sale? This should give you an idea of what to expect from this coral.

I do agree that not too much stuff gets to colony sized. I have only ever seen a single Fox Flame colony of 6" or more (mine) and it has been around for years and years and is a fast grower. There are lots of people who do have colonies, but they mostly have more established stuff and have had it for quite some time. It might be a 5-6 years before there any an appreciable amount of Falling Phoenix colonies.

Well I have one about an inch, I guess I will start the documentation process on its growth here soon. Just need to get some pictures of it, lil bleached from shipping! I also have the ASD milli you speak of and that one looks far different than this one so far... mine is almost like a pink orange.

Nice coral. I was just trying to order a nice acan from their website and it would not let me pick a delievery date so I could not continue with the purchase.

Was your frag fairly pale and brown when you first got it?

Color correcting the egg crate brings out a lot more orange so it would certainly be interesting to see one under a more neutral light source.

It's an iphone picture, so the quality is not great, but the colors are pretty accurate to the eye. I'm hoping the frag is just browned out from shipping.

So yes most of the sps corals from them came in looking poor honestly first time ordering from them and think maybe I just had a bad experience, I expected better from UC. One of the tenuis went up in smoke a week after getting it and same with my super-shock torch looked half dead out of the bag and also died a week later.. everything else has recovered and healing. Not to mention in that live sale he said he would have an orange passion and the whole reason I did the live sale... and at the end he told me sorry don't have any... I don't think I will buy from them again.

I would also like to note that I do expect some color loss due to shipping but this just looked worse than normal for me..

Yeah, I can't say I'm impressed.

Of growing concern to me, the corallite structure on my frag just seems wrong to me when compared to the mother colony of fallen phoenix and your frag.
