Have you ever noticed that the coloring on certain types of favia reduces a little bit while it's growing a carpet down from a frag etc? I always chalked this up to the fact that the tissue is stretching. Maybe I'm wrong.

Have you ever noticed that the coloring on certain types of favia reduces a little bit while it's growing a carpet down from a frag etc? I always chalked this up to the fact that the tissue is stretching. Maybe I'm wrong.

I don't think it's tissue stretching, it's that the new tissue is radidly growing and often a brighter color that the rest of the coral.
