I can't believe I'm actually asking this, but are smart phones safe to use in a reef tank?

They claim it’s submersible to a point. Why not just get a go-pro?

Again, still feeling silly asking this, but is it safe to submerge an iPhone 7 in a reef tank? Safe for the tank inhabitants?

I know someone that submerges just the iPhone camera ... you can also use the porthole - @AVAST Marine makes a nice one with a smart phone attachment. I don’t recommend gopros in a reef tank unless you have a huge tank. The go pro can’t close focus very well on its own, and it’s hard to shoot without looking at the lcd display... GoPros are good for scuba but suck for reef tanks
