Here is a coral hitchhiker that is on a rock with my big yuma....Not sure of what kind it is it looks like the polyps come from a soft base. I can't see if there is a skeleton underneath it though cause of the location.....What do you guys think it could be? Kinda looks like a tiny goniopora or something.....It's doing realy good and has added a few new polyps to it already in about 2 weeks.....

My guess would be porites or pocillopora. Possibly a monti. It looks a little small to be a goni. Nice detail on the photos though.

Thanks that was the only 2 out of about 25 that really showed anything.....

Yea I was just gussing....To small to really tell.....I thought about trying to break it off the rock but them I have to handle the yuma more then I want to...So I might just let it grow and see what happends...

I would have guessed goni, too. I've had some hitchhikers before that were similar, but the colony was larger. They didn't extend much more than what yours are in the pictures at any point.

Well it is doing great still, I was moving some stuff around and there was a crevas in the rock with another small piece growing in it that fell out. So I glued that one to a piece of rubble. I can say that it does have a calcious skeleton and what looks like tubes that the polyp comes out of. There is also tissue on this skeleton but the polyps fully retract into the hole in the skeleton.....I will try and get some pics but this thing is awful small....

IN the second pic right above the big polyps, you can see a part of the polyp from the small piece that I glued....So it loks like there were 2 that were growing not just the big part......Can't wait to see what it turns into...
